Their forthcoming Bollywood-inspired musical Stardust , premieres at the Belgrade Theatre on 14 September and runs until 21 September. Telling the story of two British Asian singers, Amor and Amar, and their relationship with music producer Cyrus, Stardust is a reincarnation thriller with a same-sex relationship at its centre — something close to the hearts of its star and songwriter Robby Khela and director Samir Bhamra , who were eager to explore the idea of two souls falling in love, free from traditional gender constraints with writer Shahid Iqbal Khan. All too often, it has been hidden away, our history whitewashed or distorted. Visibility helps to reduce the stigma and isolation.

Theatre review: Dreamplay Asian Boys Vol. 1 is a messy affirmation of gay lives
LGBT theatre in Singapore - Wikipedia
Wild Rice's In The Spotlight festival brings back some of playwright Alfian Sa'at's earliest works, including this first volume of the Asian Boys series, which premiered when he was 23, in Dreamplay was lauded as being audaciously risque and provocative, a trailblazer that went where few dared to tread. So the fact that this play no longer comes across as being incredibly controversial is, in fact, a remarkable thing - a reflection of how gay culture has crossed over from the ostracised margins and into the mainstream. The Singapore stage has given the pink play a place to call home. Dreamplay unfolds within the structure of an allegory, loosely adapted from Swedish playwright August Strindberg's A Dream Play The goddess Agnes Jo Kukathas , daughter of the god Indra, comes to Singapore on a mission to save mankind. She discovers, with the help of the everyman Boy Tan Shou Chen , that her terrestrial purpose is to put gay men back on the straight and narrow.

Frances Poet's play Adam is the true story of a young trans man, Adam Kashmiry, making the journey from his native Egypt to Scotland, across borders and genders, in his search for a place to call home. In the play, the central figure of Adam Kashmiry is represented as two distinct but complementary characters, Egyptian Adam and Glasgow Adam, 'two sides of a single coin'. Together they narrate the story of Adam's realisation of his true identity while growing up in Egypt, his decision to leave his native country, his journey from there to a cramped room in Glasgow, and his ongoing struggle to assume his new identity as a man. The premiere production was directed by Cora Bissett with music by Jocelyn Pook and set and costume design by Emily James. Babies is a warm-hearted, buoyant and very funny comedy about homosexuality and judgement in a working-class setting.
But events soon take a chilling turn when Amar discovers that Amor was silenced for uncovering an explosive secret involving her music producer and husband We still have a long way to go to remove the impact of several centuries of colonisation, though.
